serial #9317, 348 Win, 24” barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine tube retain about 97 to near 98% original blue, the loss is due chiefly to some even fading and a few light handling marks from the years, the nosecap now flaked showing perhaps 70% original blue. The receiver is nice as well showing a similar 95-97% original blue, the only appreciable loss being a small fingerprint on the belly of the receiver which has left a round gray and brown area with some light pits in it, no doubt a “bloody fingerprint”. The lever and hammer retain excellent original blue showing only some very light oxidation on the lever. The checkered deluxe walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus with nearly all their original varnish and only light handling marks and dings from the years, a bit more prevalent on the left and right of the buttstock. The original hooded bead front sight is intact, the rear sight slot wearing a dovetail blank (there is no drag mark from sight elevator on the barrel) and the bolt is fitted with a Winchester No. 98A “riding bolt peep”. Really a very nice example overall, likely still very usable while retaining good investment potential. (37265-4) {C&R} (2000/4000) SOLD FOR $2415.00
