serial #470827, 45-70, 32 5/8" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel and bands retain 97% original blue with some minor flaking to brown along the edges and light silvering at muzzle. The breechblock and upper tang retain nearly all of their vivid original case colors. The lock and attendant parts retain 97% original blue with some minor specks of freckling. The triggerguard retains 98% original blue with a couple minor specks of freckling. The walnut stock rates excellent with a crisp 1889 dated cartouche, an excellent circled "P" firing proof, a couple dings and the expected handling marks. The rifle is equipped with a correct Buffington rear sight and a slotted cleaning rod is present. Really a lovely example of a late-production Trapdoor rifle.
