38. Early Ruger No.1 Medium Sporter Falling Block Rifle

serial #1456, 280 Rem., 26" medium weight barrel with a bright excellent bore. The early single line address barrel retains 98% original blue, loss due to light edge wear and a speck or two of light staining. The action retains 98% original blue, loss due to light contact wear on the lever release and where the lever enters the frame. The hand-fitted breechblock is numbered to the gun. The checkered walnut pistolgrip stock rates excellent with attractive wavy grain particularly on the left side of buttstock. The semi-beavertail forearm with early wraparound checkering is excellent as well with a couple minor blemishes. The buttstock and forearm are both numbered "1456", the forearm hanger is stamped "BB" and there is no visible date stamp.
