serial #651242, 22 LR, 6" barrel with an excellent bore. This first model Outdoorsman remains in outstanding condition and only lacks the original grips numbered to the gun. The metal surfaces retain about 98-99% original blue with some light high edge wear, a turn ring on the recessed cylinder and a few scratches. The standard trigger and hammer have the bold case-hardened colors that Smith & Wesson is known for with light operational wear present. The diamond checkered walnut factory grips with silver S&W medallions are correct for the period of manufacture but are numbered to another gun and rate excellent with a few light handling marks. The gun features a Call silver bead front sight and a factory black blade fully adjustable rear sight. The gun still times and locks up correctly and all appropriate parts are correctly serial numbered to the gun. In its heyday the Outdoorsman was a favorite of woodsman, hunters and trappers but crisp examples like this one remain a favorite with todays collector.
