serial #1627, 32 cal., 24" octagon barrel with full magazine and a near excellent bore. This is a nice honest example of these nice quality rifles. The barrel and top tang bear proper standard markings with the top tang showing two filled holes where a tang sight was one present. The holes appears to be filled with lead and the rear hole slightly obscures the last characters in each line. The barrel and magazine retain about 25% evenly thinning original blue finish which is blending with pleasing smooth brown patina. The action shows a lovely patina with some traces of original blue in protected areas. The plain walnut stocks rate very good plus with about 90% original finish and with just light handling marks. The rifle is sighted with a beaded blade front and standard open rear sporting sights. Stocks fit beautifully and the gun just has a pleasing appearance overall. A very solid example of these scarce, late Whitney lever guns. (18315-128LTS64) [Lewis T. Steadman Collection] (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,070.00
