serial #491, 44-40 WCF, 7 1/2'' barrel with a bright, immaculate bore and ''Remington Arms Co. Ilion N.Y.'' barrel marking. The metal surfaces of this exceptional revolver retain 98 to near 99% original nickel, there-being some very light muzzle wear and light high edge wear on the front sight. The loading gate as well shows the very slightest rub mark along its right edge and there is a tiny bit of high edge wear at front of cylinder. The checkered hard rubber monogrammed ''RA'' grips rate excellent and are pencil-numbered to the gun on their interior. There is a lanyard loop intact which shows light wear along its lower edge and the gun times and locks up perfectly. The face of the breech and recoil shield show no evidence of cartridge wear and the forcing cone area of the barrel is immaculate, the gun appearing to be unfired since leaving Ilion New York in 1892. An exceptional example overall which shows perhaps the tiniest bit of holster wear due to the pattern of the very light loss the gun has experienced. An absolutely superb revolver from-which it would be most difficult to upgrade. [Former Arnold Marcus Chernoff Collection] (38751-48) {ANTIQUE} (10,000/15,000) Sold For 11500.00
