serial #83496-S, 22 LR, 4 1/2'''' full lug heavy barrel with an excellent bore. This highly desirable short barrel second series Match Target was made in 1950 and remains in excellent condition. The metal surfaces retain about 98-99% original blue with scattered very light freckling and oxidation stains, limited edge wear, plus a few very light handling marks. The checkered thumb rest ''Coltwood'' plastic factory grips with circled Rampant Colt on the right panel rate excellent. The pistol features a Patridge front sight, ''Coltmaster'' adjustable rear sight and frame mounted lanyard loop. This pistol includes a brown leatherette hinged factory box that has no label and is un-numbered. Also included are a single factory marked magazine, original small and large ''Coltwood'' grip adaptors, test target numbered to the gun, ''Handling the Handgun'' pamphlet, manual and other paperwork. The box rates about excellent with one torn corner, the gold Rampant Colt on the cover has partially faded, the leatherette covering shows minor peeling at a few of the edges and some slight scuffing / tearing along a few edges. One of the pieces of paperwork is an old factory invoice showing the gun was returned on February 5, 1951 to replace the sear and safety in addition to tightening of the mechanism and adjusting the trigger pull.
