serial #137795, 45-70, 22" part round part octagon barrel with a bright minty bore. This is a scarce, high condition 1886 rifle. The barrel and magazine retain about 97% original blue finish. The action retains 95-97% bright original blue finish. Case color on hammer and lever remains strong. Rifle is equipped with its original plain walnut stocks which rate about excellent having had some light finish added with original checkered hard rubber buttplate in place. Rifle is equipped with Lyman "hunting" front sight and flat top rear along with a Marbles folding tang peep sight. Factory records show this rifle received in the warehouse on October 21, 1907 and lists configuration as: rifle, 45/70, 1/2 octagon 22", plain trigger, half magazine, shotgun rubber buttplate, takedown, extra lightweight, smokeless and the rifle shipped on October 22, 1907. Part octagon barrels on extra lightweight 1886 rifles are very unusual. A rare and desirable high condition '86. (2252-1) {C&R} (6000/8000)
