serial #117611, 9.3 x 62, 28" barrel with a bright excellent bore. Metal surfaces retain about 97% nice quality rust blue, the loss due to fading and high edge wear. The barrel is part octagon, part round and features a full-length integral matted rib. The rear of rib wears a five leaf express style sight with a silver bead front sight, the sight hood is not present and there are a handful of very minor pits along the side of the barrel rib and on the octagonal portion of the barrel. The stock is classic style without cheekpiece, and features a horn forend tip; forend runs 5/8 the length of the barrel as these special African style normally do, the stock itself rates excellent with only minor handling marks. The breech area of the barrel just ahead of the receiver ring shows an excellent depiction of an African bull elephant flanked by light tasteful scroll. The receiver is square-bridged, the top flats have been finely checkered. The bottom metal too shows nice foliate engraving and the floorplate shows another exceptional depiction of a bull elephant engraved in-relief amidst Savanna grass. The bottom of the trigger guard bow shows a relief engraved example of an Oryx, also flanked by lovely tight scroll. The grip cap and magnum crossbolt appear to have been later nickel plated, both are also engraved. Butt features a steel ribbed buttplate, both the heel and toe feature nice scroll engraving. The bolt handle itself features tasteful scroll while the grasping area of the knob has been overall stippled. When the hinged floorplate is opened, the area just ahead of the trigger guard is inlaid in silver "A.A.White/Engr.". The striker wears a Parker Hale aperture sight which is adjustable for windage and elevation. This is an absolutely superb rifle in a very well-respected caliber that is suitable for all but the most dangerous African game, made by the finest manufacturer of bolt action magazine rifles in the world, and engraved by an extremely well respected and gifted engraver.
