serial #19543, 16 ga. & 8 X 57 JR, 26 1/8" barrels with bright excellent bores. This locking system of this drilling is an excellent example of German engineering (or perhaps over engineering). The action locks with conventional double underlugs and rather than a cross bolt, when the top lever is moved to the right a pair of lugs (one on either side) spread and release the barrels. The lugs have holes through rounded sections at front which fit flawlessly into corresponding pillars on either side of barrels. While this is not the most graceful locking system, it is unique and very strong. The drilling features a single set front trigger, a Greener side safety, cocking indicators and tang mounted selector switch for rifle barrel which activates rifle sight. The barrels retain about 85% evenly thinning original blue finish. The action retains about 60% subtle original color case-hardened finish which is blending with a smooth gray patina. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend have fine checkering and rate very good plus with flat cheek piece and perhaps 70% original finish remaining with light handling marks. Bottom of buttstock has a four cartridge trap and drilling is equipped with sling swivels. A neat nice quality German drilling. (2534-3) {C&R} (1200/1800) SOLD FOR $2300.00
