serial #25550(A), 22 LR, 23" barrel with an excellent bore. This is a very fine 1938 manufactured rifle featuring style I checkering known in its day as $2.00 checkering. The barrel retains 99% plus original blue finish. The receiver retains about 90% original blue finish with the balance having flaked and exhibits a pleasing dark brown patina that blends well. The forend cap has flaked more than the receiver but has a similar patina mixed with the original blue finish. The smooth steel buttplate retains 97% original blue finish. The checkered pistol grip walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent with a few light handling marks and retaining 98% original varnish finish. A very fine and all original model 63 rifle.
