.58 RF, 37 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle has an 1865 dated Springfield lockplate with the barrel, bands, and triggerguard cleaned to bright and a dull gray-brown patina on the breech-block, hammer, and lockplate. There are some minor spots of freckling on the barrel near the muzzle and some faint pinprick pitting visible on the lockplate and the mechanism, though functional, is rather stiff and requires the latch to be firmly shut by hand to clear the hammer. The original walnut has been refinished to very good condition with a dark added oil finish over numerous handling marks and minor blemishes and still has a faint but illegible inspector cartouche on the left side. The correct ramrod is a dark gray with mottled brown freckling and the rifle rates good-very good condition. (74396-71) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $1380.00
