This import marked, "byf/43" coded pistol has matching numbers on the frame, slide, and barrel and retains 95% of an overall reblued finish over spots of "blood" pitting on the frame and silvering at the muzzle, exposed edges, and bearing surfaces. The nearly black phenolic resin grips are in very good shape with some minor scuffs and blemishes but no cracks or chips. The pistol has a single magazine and is housed in a pebbled brown leather soft-sided P.38 holster with scuffed leather and some crazing along the flex points. This is a good P.38 overall. 962. Williamson Single Shot Deringer Pistol 41 RF, 2 1/2" barrel with a dark, pitted bore. This pistol has a mottled brown patina along the barrel mingled with light pitting throughout and the brass fittings have turned a dark ochre color over time. The mainspring is broken and there is a straight-line crack through the grip at the tip of the engraved top tang but the checkering is still strong under an added varnish finish. 963. Colt Third Model Deringer serial #4354, 41 RF, 2 1/2" barrel with a fair bore that has dark spots of pitting along its length. The rosewood grips are in good shape with much of the original varnish remaining and small chips missing from the butt on either side. This is a good Colt deringer overall. Metal surfaces on the barrel are evenly thinning to a smooth brown patina and the Springfield action is a gray patina. The rifle has a Weaver K4-1 scope with duplex reticle with clear optics and is mounted on Weaver rings and split mounts. The safety has been modified to clear the scope. The smooth custom stock has been glass bedded, has steel checkered gripcap and buttplate and is set up for a left-handed shooter with a Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece. Overall the oiled stock rates near excellent with 1" quick release sling swivels and mounting a basketweave brown leather sling. A very nicely done custom rifle for a left-handed shooter. Metal surfaces retain about 30% original blue primarily on the receiver with the balance of the receiver and the barrel showing a smooth brown patina with traces of bluing still present. The rifle has an added Savage No. 25 windage and elevation adjustable rear sight and a #3 dovetailed front sight with silver bead. The rear stock is a plain pistolgrip walnut with a nice figure and mounting a steel Remington curved buttplate. There are repairs to the stock on either side of the bottom tang and a crack running from the frame to the repair. Otherwise the stock rates very good with only a few older handling marks. The rounded forend is matching walnut and has 10 grooves and rates very good with only a few handling marks. This is a nice looking, takedown Model 12C rifle dated Nov. 1928. The gun has no handguard but does have saddle ring (currently mounted on the wrong side), rear sling swivel and fold down rear sight calibrated to 1000 meters. The stock has been refinished and shows some handling marks, but rates very good overall. This is a rather neat custom rifle utilizing the rear half of a model 1894 and the front half of a model 64 with the number "6" re-struck with a slightly larger "9" on barrel. The barrel and magazine retain 70% original blue finish toning to a dull brown patina with some faint scuffs, scratches and light silvering around the muzzle. The action is a pewter gray and brown patina as is the crescent buttplate. The plain straight grip stock and semi-beavertail forearm both rate fair with light handling marks and spots of fading original finish being somewhat darker on the buttstock.
