44 Evans cf, 24" octagon barrel with a bright excellent bore. This is really a wonderful Evans rifle. This transitional model rifle does not appear to have a serial number and is very finely crafted. The special features include checkered stocks and factory tang mounted peep sight with no provision for rear barrel sight. The condition of the rifle is fabulous as well. The barrel, action and magazine all retain about 90% evenly thinning original blue finish which is bright and very pleasing to the eye. The lever, trigger and hammer retain about 90% original color case-hardened finish which has mellowed over time but has a lovely appearance. The checkered buttstock and forend rate excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with checkering remaining sharp. The forend tip is of iron and has flaked to a smooth brown patina. The cocking piece on the hammer is shaped as an opposing trigger on the opposite side of the lever. The rifle is sighted with a nice globe front sight, there is no provision for rear barrel sight and the top of the magazine behind action has a very nice original folding peep sight on base which is soldered onto the magazine. An extremely handsome, (yes, I really said that), high condition and investment quality antique American rifle. (4659-35) {ANTIQUE} (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $3737.50
