serial #81741, .250-3000 (250 Savage), 20”″ match-grade, cut-rifled Krieger barrel with an as-new bore. This is an original Oberndorf square-bridge Kurz Mauser action with tang safety. The rifle retains all its beautiful satin-finished rust blue with the bolt body and extractor being finished bright. The bottom metal shows the highest quality foliate scroll with background shading and geometric border engraving around the periphery of the action screws. The floorplate is engraved with an endearing depiction of a grizzly bear startling--or rather being startled by--a scurrying prairie dog, all the engraving by master Lee Griffiths, the vignette being finished in-the-white. The gun is stocked classic style in exhibition-grade California French walnut with a scant schnabel style tip and a lovely rounded shadowline cheekpiece. The blued steel trapdoor buttplate and Classic Arms pistolgrip cap show the same beautiful, high-quality scroll engraving with a single compartment beneath the trap door. The grip features flawless checkered panels while the forend shows a lovely wrap-around pattern. Amenities include three-panel checkered bolt knob, tang-mounted safety, hinged floorplate and a barrel band sling swivel with stud along the toeline. The sights include a graceful hand-matted quarter rib with two folding, one standing three-leaf express sight with banded hooded sporting ramp front; each leaf with a single silver inlaid index line, the fixed leaf with a large triangular silver inlay and front sight with a flip-up "moonglow" low-light sight post. The square bridge action has neatly matted top flats with finely matted lever-release rings. There are neatly engraved plugs installed when the scope is not affixed. The included telescopic sight is a nice Kahles Helia super 2.3-7x in quick detachable mounts with hidden ring screws, also neatly engraved; the scope features excellent optics and a heavy European-style reticle. The adjustable trigger features a finely hand-checkered face. This fine rifle comes in a best-quality oak and leather case with outer canvas cover by Ray Sterck. The included accessories by J. Lozito are a horn-handled cleaning rod and nitre-blued oil and grease pots, bottle for scope base plugs, Classic Arms top-grain leather sling with "super-grade" style quick detachable swivels; the compartment lid pulls are horn. Rifle weighs 6 1/4 lbs. without scope with a 13 5/8" length of pull. The rifle is otherwise as-new, unfired, the stock showing three tiny handling marks on its right side butt. A superb, very versatile whitetail and antelope caliber in a lightweight desirable Kurz-action rifle. (34768-2) (18,000/22,000) SOLD FOR $14,950.00
