.50 Sharps 3 1/4", 32”″ full octagon Wm. S. van Horne cut-rifled match-grade barrel with an as-new bore. This is an antique commercial octagon top receiver Sharps-Borchardt rifle frame masterfully resurrected and customized by Classic Arms. The barrel is a medium weight sporting barrel with wonderfully matted top-rib, matted using Winchester's original barrel matting equipment. The barrel retains all of its wonderful deep rust blue while the frame, lever and breech block retain all of their vivid, stunning color case-hardening. The frame features a very near overall excellent quality tight scroll engraving which continues onto the face and sides of the lever with a superbly-executed game scene vignette on the right frame flat of an American Bison amidst prairie grass, the masterful work is done by gifted Montana engraver Wm. Gamradt. The rifle is stocked in an extraordinarily fine quality exhibition-grade California English crotch walnut with fine English-style checkering with mullered borders, crisp rounded shadowline cheekpiece, crisp shadowline cheek and forend flares, ebony pistolgrip insert and forend tip. The butt is fitted with a steel sporting style plate with widows peak with beautifully engraved heel and toe and metal-checkered center. The barrel features Freund-style front and rear "more light"-style sights, the rear sight long-range leaf fitted with a spirit level. The tang has a top-quality Sharps long to medium-range windage-adjustable sporting style sight. This exceptional quality rifle is cased in British-style mahogany case with brass corner reinforces and outer canvas cover by Ray Sterck, it's interior compartment lid pulls are horn. The Wm. Crowley accessories include horn handled rosewood cleaning rod with brass jags and nitre-blued oil and grease bottles. Rifle weighs 10 lbs. with a 15" length of pull.
