.62 cal., 6" smoothbore octagon barrels with excellent bores. The locks of these fine pistols feature lovely scroll engraving as do barrel tangs, breeches, triggerguards and tailpipes. The tops of the barrels are engraved "Westley Richards" as are both locks. The condition of these pistols is fabulous. The barrels retain over 90% of the original brown finish which is thinning evenly and shows very nice twist pattern with some scattered pits here and there. The locks, barrel breeches and tangs retain 90% plus original color case-hardened finish which has mellowed on locks to a pewter appearance with subtle swirls of color. The triggerguards and tailpipes retain about 50% original bright blue finish with the balance flaked and turned to a gray-brown patina. Pistols are equipped with sliding safeties, swivel rammers and barrels are fastened with a single key. The European walnut stocks show lovely figure and rate excellent with 95% original finish remaining and with excellent flat top checkering. The pistols come in their original mahogany case with original Westley Richards label inside lid showing the 170 New Bond St. London address. Lid of case shows typical British brass handle which folds flat and case also shows typical brass pivoting latches. Accessories include a cleaning rod, a single cavity mold, Eley cap tin, modern flask, patch cutter and an ebony handled nipple wrench which needs repair. Two interior compartments appear to be missing their lids, otherwise the case is complete and rates excellent. A lovely set of London percussion pistols.
