serial #571561, 32 ACP, 3 3/4" barrel with an excellent bore. This pistol retains about 98% original Parco-Lubrite (Parkerizing) finish with slight thinning on the grip frame, limited high edge wear and a few handling marks. The checkered walnut factory grips with silver Colt medallions rate very good to excellent with light handling wear and a few dings. The right side of the frame is correctly marked "U.S. PROPERTY" and all markings remain crisp. The pistol includes a factory letter dated October 18, 2010 indicating the gun was shipped as described above but with blue finish. Factory shipping records reflected blue finish even though Parco-Lubrite finish was used until September 1945 (U.S. Handguns of World War II by Charles Pate). This gun was shipped to the U.S. Government, Transportation Officer, Springfield Armory, Springfield, Massachusetts, For: Commanding Officer, on February 22, 1945, Colt order number 4711; with a total of 283 guns in this shipment. Included with this gun is a Colt two-piece brown craft box numbered in pencil to the gun, "Colt Automatic Pistol" manual that is code dated 1944-45, bore brush, hang tag and a single correctly marked magazine. The box bears the correct dimensions for a factory box and rates good with light to moderate repairs to the cover. The manual rates excellent. This late war gun with accessories will make a solid addition to any military or Colt collection. (87644-28) {C&R} [Kevin Williams Collection] (2000/2500) SOLD FOR $3,162.50
