serial #559620, 32 ACP, 3 3/4" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this very nice example retain about 97 to near 98% original blue, the loss due only to some high edge silvering, light fading on the straps and the odd tiny handling mark here or there. The checkered walnut grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions rate excellent with a couple tiny chipped points. All of the markings remain crisp including the right side "U.S. Property" marking and the punch-dot ordnance acceptance mark at the root of the triggerguard. There is a single blued two-tone magazine included and the slide is appropriately numbered to the frame. The included factory letter shows shipment in June 1944 to the Property Officer, Supply Division, Office of Strategic Services in the Fowler building, Rosslyn Virginia for the Commanding Officer with 119 other guns. Really a super example overall, issued to this early black bag "spook" intelligence agency. (37644-46) {C&R} [Kevin Williams Collection] (2500/4000) SOLD FOR $4,600.00
