serial #K413171, 38 Special, 4" pinned barrel with an excellent bore. This United States Air Force, A.F.P.G. marked revolver was returned to the factory and the barrel changed to 4" at their request. The metal surfaces retain about 95% original blue with high edge wear, thinning backstrap, turn ring on the cylinder and a few light handling marks. The .500" target hammer and .500" target trigger retain robust case-hardened colors with light operational marks, slight freckling and light wear to the right side of the trigger. The un-numbered diamond checkered walnut factory target grips rate excellent. The revolver features a black blade micro adjustable factory rear sight, Patridge front sight and the left side of the frame is marked AFPG (Air Force Premium Grade). The bottom of the barrel is stamped with the gun's serial number and a factory refurbish stamp (S with a diamond). A factory letter dated November 22, 2006 is included and indicates this revolver was one of 50 shipped to the United States Air Force, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas on March 28, 1961. It was shipped with blue finish, 6" barrel, target trigger, target hammer and checkered walnut target grips. Historian Roy Jinks also indicates that a number of these guns were returned to the factory and fitted with 4" barrels. Very few model 14s were made with 4" barrels and even fewer are U.S. marked. A rare opportunity to own an unusual variant of the K-38 Masterpiece. (87644-51) {C&R} [Kevin Williams Collection] (2000/2500) SOLD FOR $2,300.00
