serial #821110. 44 WCF, 15" round barrel with full magazine and a bright minty bore. This is a fine and rare Winchester trapper which has been removed from the provisions of the NFA and further classified as a curio & relic by BATF (letter included). The carbine shows little use with the barrel and magazine retaining about 90% original blue overall with loss being due to some flaking on the barrel and three patches of blood pitting all ahead of the barrel band and one on the magazine tube. The action retains about 10% original blue with the loss due to flaking and with the exposed metal bearing a pleasing smooth brown patina. The plain walnut buttstock and gumwood forend rate about excellent with some scattered light handling marks present. Both stocks appear original and the included three-page George Madis letter addresses this and he states that they both appear original. This carbine has a wonderful bore and most of the finish loss is from flaking and not wear. A very nice little trapper in a most popular chambering. (18087-79) {C&R} [Kenneth Fry Collection] (6000/8000) SOLD FOR $7,475.00
