serial #16459, 45-70, 24" barrel with a moderately oxidized bore which displays strong rifling. The metal surfaces have toned to an even gray patina which is mixing with a light mottled brown displaying some light dings and having faint traces of original blue in the protected areas. The triggerguard displays an even gray brown patina. The smooth straight grip stock rates excellent, possibly being a later replacement which displays a few scattered light dings and handling marks. The buttstock is fitted with its original crescent steel buttplate which has toned to an even gray patina having some light pinprick pitting on the high edges. The pewter forend cap remains bright and the barrel band is loose. The saddle ring is still present on the left side of the stock and the gun wears its original front and rear sights. This is a very good example of Winchesters first bolt action rifle. (177792-3) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $690.00
