109. Custom Sharps Borchardt Model 1878 Single Shot Target Rifle

Description Update (3/15/17): Action is modern not antique

serial #1, 32-40 Win (S.), 30" part octagon part round barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 98% excellent quality rust blue finish while the frame, breechblock and lever show a similar amount of vibrant color case-hardening. The rifle is very nicely stocked in an attractive straight-grained piece of English walnut. Both butt and forend feature flawlessly-executed bordered checkered panels and both rate excellent. The buttstock features a right side flared shadowline cheekpiece, raised diamond hard rubber pistolgrip cap and the length of pull to the "SR&Co" gutta-percha buttplate is 14 1/4" to the front trigger; the forend with a nice ebony tip. The rifle is equipped with a quality globe front sight adjustable for windage, with a spirit level and there is a seat on the tang for an aperture sight whose staff is no longer present; the top flat of the barrel has been drilled and tapped for two steel target blocks, which are present, and the rifle is equipped with double set triggers. The rifle includes a breech seating tool, bullet mould, dies and 90 cases. Overall a very handsome single shot target and sporting rifle with a very classic look.
