serial #7809bb, 8mm Mauser, 24" barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered frosting and light pitting. The metal surfaces of this 1917 and 1920-dated carbine retain 80% Weimar arsenal blue with thinning and fading throughout, scattered light pitting on receiver, floorplate and triggerguard. The hardwood stock rates very good with some added varnish, faint Imperial cartouches, a faint "1920" Weimar date, scattered dings, chips, abrasions, handling marks and scratches. The rear triggerguard screw number is indiscernible and the rear sight leaf is mismatched but all other visible parts are matching and there is a unit marking on top of the butt which reads "R.F.V./4021" likely for the Reich Finance Administration. This carbine includes an original steel muzzle cap that is marked "2053" and shows oxidation throughout. A neat Weimar era carbine overall. (207879-39) {C&R} [Craig Brown Collection] (500/700) SOLD FOR $747.50
