32" curved single fuller blade. The blade remains bright with scattered patches of light oxidation staining and the main edge shows modest chipping along the foible commonly associated with a fought sword. The obverse ricasso is marked "U.S. / A.D.K. (A.D. King) / 1865" while the reverse ricasso is marked with four line scripted "Made by / AMES MFG Co. / MASS.". The leather buffer washer is present and the hilt has a brass guard that ends with a round quillion and domed pommel cap, the gripped is covered in black leather and is wrapped in braided brass wire. The brass surfaces have a pleasing tarnished patina and the leather covering shows light scuffing, the wire wrapping has loosened slightly but remains intact. The steel scabbard retains much original blue with scattered fine and modest oxidation, the drag is marked with "A.D.K." inspectors initials. An overall very good Light Artillery saber with a possible story to tell. (57940-25) (400/600) SOLD FOR $488.75
