27. Spencer Model 1865 Saddle Ring Carbine

serial #423, 50 cal. RF, 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 95% evenly thinning original blue lightly toning to brown with a speck or two of light silvering from barrel band removal and is properly numbered to the frame. The frame, hammer and lockplate have a smooth pewter patina with some scattered fine oxidation staining and good amounts of original case colors, remaining quite strong on the top rear of the frame and inside the hammer. The top of the frame is properly marked but has softened slightly with time and barrel is marked "M.1865". The buttstock rates excellent with only minor dents and handling marks and two good cartouches on the left side at the rear of the sling bar base. The forend rates very good plus to near excellent with a few more dings and handling marks. The buttplate has a bright silver patina with a few light impact marks and stains and light traces of original case colors on the tang. The gun is not equipped with a Stabler cut off and the action remains crisp. A near excellent condition 1865 carbine. (58016-8) {ANTIQUE} (1500/2000) SOLD FOR $2,185.00
