28. Winchester Model 1873 Third Model Rifle

serial #719126B, 44 WCF, 24" octagon barrel with full magazine and a bright excellent bore. This is a nice condition end-of-production rifle. The barrel and magazine retain 97-98% original blue, loss due to some thin light scratches primarily along the lower left barrel flat and some light silvering along the magazine tube cap. The action retains about 70% flaking original blue finish, the exposed metal toning to a pleasing soft brown patina with maybe a spot or two of fine oxidation staining. The plain walnut stock and forend rate very good plus to near excellent retaining about 95% original finish with minor light dents and blemishes more so in the buttstock which shows a little dark staining along the lower left toe. The nosecap is flaking to a brown patina matching that of the action and the buttplate is toning to a mottled brown with scattered oxidation staining a little more moderate at the heel. The rifle is equipped with a standard front sight and sporting rear sight and the serrated rear sliding dust cover is present. A very good plus 1873 rifle manufactured in the last year of production.
