29. Winchester Model 1892 Special Order Take Down Rifle

serial #421783, 32 WCF, 24" part round part octagon barrel with half magazine and a very good plus bore which is bright with strong rifling but showing fine oxidation staining and pinprick pitting throughout. This is an attractive rifle which features a part octagon takedown barrel and half length magazine as its special order options. The barrel and magazine retain about 92-95% evenly thinning original blue finish, the loss due to rub wear the first 4" from the muzzle, light edge and muzzle wear and minor contact wear from magazine takedown. The action has toned to a smooth brown patina with a slightly brighter pale gray along the belly of the action. The nosecap is a similar brown with the crescent buttplate having a pleasing silver patina. The plain walnut stocks rate near excellent retaining nearly all their original finish with a handful of handling marks and blemishes, a thin indentation in the belly of the stock and are equipped with swivel studs. The rifle is sighted with a Lyman No. 31W front sight and standard semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight. A very good plus 1907 production 1892 rifle in a handsome special order configuration.
