451. Winchester Model 1894 Special Order Takedown Rifle

Description Update (3/15/17): Small drying at toe

serial #121962, 38-55, 26" octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good plus bore remaining overall bright with fine evident rifling showing some very fine pinprick pitting and oxidation staining. The barrel and magazine retain about 90% original blue thinning to brown, majority of loss along the magazine with light silvering along the edges and an area of rub wear on the top barrel flat between the rear sight and breech and around the magazine band from takedown wear along with tiny nicks and oxidation staining. The action and takedown boss retain an overall pewter and brown patina with scattered spots of oxidation and generous traces of original blue primarily on the left side of the receiver. The case-hardened hammer and lever have toned to a smoky gray and brown with scattered fine oxidation and traces of original colors in protected areas. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good with light handling marks retaining about 90% original finish with perhaps a little added oil. The crescent steel buttplate and forend nose cap retain an overall brown patina with gray highlights and specks of very light oxidation. The rifle is sighted with a Marble's reverse bead front sight, the rear has been replaced with a slot blank and an unmarked what appears to be a Lyman No. 2 peep sight is mounted on the rear tang. A very good plus 1901 production 1894 takedown rifle in a quite desirable caliber. (58087-123) {C&R} [Kenneth Fry Collection] (1500/2000) SOLD FOR $2,070.00
