Click on images for enlarged versions.

serial #30532, 8mm Mauser, 24" barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered light oxidation. The front band, receiver and barrel of this byf 45 coded rifle retain about 75% original blue with even fading throughout and some scattered oxidation spots and the cupped buttplate shows scattered oxidation staining. The rear band shows a fading phosphate finish while the floorplate and triggerguard have turned a silver pewter with light oxidation staining throughout. The walnut stock rates very good with a crisp "(Eagle)/Wa135" Waffenamt on right side of butt, a partially faded "(Eagle)/WaA135" on underside of pistolgrip, scattered dings, scratches and handling marks. The bolt handle, cocking piece and bolt sleeve are matching but there are no other visible serialized parts and the triggerguard is marked "svw" and with two "(Eagle)/135" Waffenamts. The bolt is in-the-white and shows scattered oxidation staining it has the late war round gas escape holes. The safety is blued and marked "(Eagle)/18" and may be a replacement and the stock lacks a takedown disc. An interesting K98k overall that will make a fine addition to a World War Two collection.
