serial #349, 44 WCF, 22" nickel steel barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains about 95% evenly thinning original blue toning to brown under bright light. There is some very light wear along the periphery of the muzzle and the forearm iron has toned to a pleasing brown patina. The action has toned to brown patina with lighter pewter gray along the edges and the loading gate, the hammer sides retain strong amounts of original blue. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend rate about very good overall with light dings and scratches, more prevalent on the buttstock. The buttstock is fitted with a standard grooved steel buttplate which has toned to a brown and gray patina with light oxidation staining at the heel. The rifle is sighted with a Lyman gold bead front sight and standard sporting rear sight. An overall very good early production low number Model 53.
