serial #294156B, 44 WCF, 23 5/8" shortened octagon barrel with full magazine and an about very good bore showing oxidation and pinprick pitting the entire length. The metal surfaces retain a brown patina with light silvering along the edges, scattered fine oxidation and tiny impact marks along the edges and in the rear sight area. The right edge of the muzzle shows an impact mark and there are spiral scratches around the circumference of the magazine tube. The plain walnut stock rates very good with light handling marks and dents still retaining much original varnish. The walnut forend rates good overall having a much darker color and devoid of any finish most likely a replacement. The wood shows numerous scuffs, handling marksand chipped edges. The rifle is fitted with a brass blade Rocky Mountain style front sight which has been amateurishly soldered in place and a replacement sporting style rear sight missing its elevator. The serrated rear dust cover is loose but in place. A good to very good 1873 rifle that has seen its time afield. (58118-103) {ANTIQUE} (800/1200) SOLD FOR $1,380.00
