serial #F4240, 8mm Mauser, 30" barrel with an excellent bore. The receiver and bolt are turning a dull gray patina with scattered oxidation staining, while the buttplate shows oxidation staining throughout. The blued surfaces have turned a dull brown patina with scattered traces of the original finish, oxidation staining and some tool marks on right side of rear sight. The hardwood stock rates good plus with a strong "DEUTCHES REICHS" cartouche, a partially faded Belgian cartouche, a 1 1/2" chip on right side of triggerguard, a 1" chip on comb of butt, further scattered chips, dings, abrasions, handling marks and scratches. The barrel is matching, while the top of bolt knob is renumbered matching and the remaining parts including the rear of bolt handle are mismatched. The receiver has an added notch to accept the 8mm Mauser cartridge and the buttplate has had the original Belgian serial numbers crossed out and the numbers "446" and "138" added. A very good example of hard-to-find World War One arm. (207879-114) {C&R} [Craig Brown Collection] (800/1200) SOLD FOR $1,150.00
