77. Winchester Model 1873 Semi-Deluxe Lever Action Rifle

serial #69048, 38-40, 24" part round part octagon barrel with button magazine and a fair bore. This rifle features a straight grip stock with smooth steel shotgun buttplate and the factory records list the wood as "fancy". The metal surfaces of rifle bear an even gray brown patina with nice clean edges, smooth surfaces and clear crisp factory markings. There are numerous light impact marks on the top of the frame above the chamber and the dust cover may be very slightly shortened at the front. The walnut buttstock and forend are of nicely figured walnut and rate very good having been lightly refinished. The rifle is sighted with a later beaded blade front and standard open sporting rear. The rifle comes with a records request form from Cody which reads: Rifle, 38, 1/2 octagon barrel, plain trigger, fancy stocks, 1/2 magazine, received in February 28, 1881 and shipped on March 4, 1881 to order #24234. A neat old semi-deluxe 1873 rifle consecutively numbered to the following full deluxe rifle in nearly the identical configuration.
