serial #882i, 8mm Mauser, 17" barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered light pitting but strong rifling. The in-the-white receiver and bolt of this 1892 dated and "S" marked carbine remain mostly bright with scattered oxidation stains, while the buttplate shows heavier oxidation and some impact marks. The blued barrel and bands have turned a dull brown patina and the magazine body retains about 70% original blue with scattered fading and light oxidation. The walnut stock rates near very good with strong Imperial cartouches, a strong marking on right side of stock that resembles a castle, a repaired 1 1/4" chip at upper tang, a large 7" repaired chip at toe, scattered abrasions, dings, scratches and handling marks. The cocking knob appears un-numbered but all other visible serialized parts are matching, there is a crossed-out unit marking on the front band and another unit marking on the rear band which reads "9.R.1.2". There is a police marking on the left side of the receiver which reads "Pol. B.H.167" and this is a neat KAR 88. (207879-202) {ANTIQUE} [Craig Brown Collection] (700/900) SOLD FOR $805.00
