.54 Caliber, 9" barrel with an oxidized bore. The barrel and band remain partially bright but show oxidation staining, light pitting and dings scattered throughout and the brass pan is a mottled yellow color with oxidation staining throughout. The remaining metal parts are an overall gray patina with scattered areas of light pitting and oxidation staining with the lockplate area showing the most pitting. The walnut stock rates about very good as-cleaned with a solid few repairs, a few thin cracks, scattered chips, abrasions, dings, handling marks and scratches. The maker's mark the earlier type, as the lettering is large, and part of the mark has faded and there are no visible cartouches on the stock. The ramrod appears to be the correct hickory type and the hammer appears weak but it does go to half and full cock. Overall a solid example of these interesting and desirable U.S. martial pistols.
