serial #16281, 44 WCF, 24" full octagon barrel with full magazine and a very good bore that shows pitting and oxidation still mostly bright with good rifling. The barrel and magazine tube retain an overall rich brown patina with scattered fine oxidation staining and perhaps 20% original blue in protected areas along with some light silvering along the edges and magazine takedown wear. The action retains a smooth pale brown patina with perhaps 30% original blue along the protected edges. The bolt retains 95-97% original blue, the loading gate and hammer are toning to pale gray with the crescent buttplate and nosecap bearing a brown patina similar to that of the frame. The plain buttstock and forend rate very good plus with a handful of light dents and handling marks still retaining much original finish. The rifle is sighted with standard sporting sights, the rear sight elevator is no longer present. Factory records confirm configuration and a ship date of November 27, 1893. The barrel to frame fit has loosened slightly, still a very good all-original antique takedown 1892 rifle made during the first couple years of production.
