serial #65059, 30 carbine, 18" Marlin barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces are an overall dark gray-green fading parkerized finish, roughly 90% remaining overall with the bulk of the loss on barrel and operating surfaces of bolt. The stock is correct and original and properly ordnance bomb and "IO" stamped (both on bottom of pistolgrip and on interior of stock) with a good circled "P" firing proof at its rear face. The outer surfaces of the buttstock and cheekpiece support have toned to a light brown patina and the leather cheekpiece itself remains in very good condition with light verdigree around the rivets; the buttplate shows the appropriate part number and mold markings. The stock itself rates about very good with the expected minor handling marks and dings from a field-issued arm, the left side of the body showing the normal impact marks that come from contact with the buttplate. The bulk of the parts are properly Inland Division or Inland contractor marked with the exception of the Underwood bolt, post-war High Standard M2-slide and National Postal Meter trigger housing. Although there are no post-war rebuild marks, the rifle has been fitted with bayonet lug, adjustable rear sight and rotating safety, possibly done at a smaller depot or field maintenance station. There is an OI B-marked magazine present and an original green canvas leather sling and U.S.-marked Shane Manufacturing Company 1944-dated green canvas carry case are included. The case rates about very good with a few areas becoming unstitched. Overall a very nice and correct U.S. M1A1 Inland Division carbine. (38211-14) {C&R} (2000/4000) SOLD FOR $2,760.00
