serial #21799, 12 Ga., 30" Krupp steel barrels choked improved cylinder and modified (.006" constriction right, .019" constriction left) with bright very good plus bores which show sparsely scattered light oxidation or very light pits; they are inconsequential. The barrels retain about 95% original blue, the loss due to even fading with some muzzle wear and toning just ahead of the forend area. They feature wedges of loose open scroll at the rear with engraved bands at the breeches proper. The frame is very pleasing, being an overall tarnished pewter patina with some strong traces of color in the protected areas, the early C-grade engraving is lovely. There is tight scroll on the fences, belly, top of frame and lever with game scene vignettes of quail and woodcock left and right with a setter on the belly of frame (looks like an Irish red and white). The long tang triggerguard shows nice scroll on its bow with excellent original blue. The gun is stocked straight grip with a nice checkered butt, the stock rating very good to very good plus with much original varnish and only the minor handling marks one would expext from a field-used arm. There are nicely checkered grip panels with extra panels at the cheeks. The splinter forearm is similar and has a nice ebony tip, the checkering showing a bit more wear. The gun handles immensely well with a length of pull of 14 1/4" and drops of 1 1/4" and 2". As-expected, the gun locks up "fox tight" with the lever still slightly right of center and seems to function well mechanically with very positive ejectors (4000/6000) SOLD FOR $5,750.00
