17. Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle

serial #157034, 25-20 WCF, 24" round barrel with full magazine and a bright excellent bore. The barrel and magazine retain 95% original blue overall with loss being due to just light even thinning. The action retains about 80% original blue with most loss on forward section of the belly where metal is a smooth gray brown color. The sides of action show striations which bear a pleasing smooth brown patina. The hammer and lever retain 85% plus original color case hardened finish which has faded somewhat on the lever but remains generally strong. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate excellent with about 90% original finish remaining with the primary loss on the forend from honest carry wear. The serial number application date is around 1900 and this gun is factory proofed on the barrel and frame indicating that either this action hung around the factory for a while before it was assembled or this rifle was returned for service after 1905. The rifle is sighted with standard open sporting sights. A nice, clean and very honest 1892 rifle. (18487-7) {C&R} (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,300.00
