39. Remington Lee Model 1899 Cuban Contract Rifle

serial #1224, 30-40 Krag, 30" barrel with a near very good bore. Metal surfaces of rifle retain 95% plus factory blue finish overall. The walnut stock and handguard rate excellent with 90% plus original oil finish remaining. The rifle is sighted with a brass beaded blade front mounted in iron stud and a folding leaf rear sight and handguard. This rifle was once part of the Remington Factory Collection and is listed in THE REMINGTON LEE RIFLE as part of a group of Lee's sold by the factory. This rifle shows no Cuban crest but does have the serial number "1224". The listing reads "752 (Remington Collection No), 1224 (serial number), 30 (barrel length), .30-40 (caliber), Cuban crest ground off". The rectangular brass disc is missing but the two holes are still visible and the number is recorded in the records as being factory inventory number "752". A neat Lee from the Remington Collection.
