serial #3401, 22 LR, 5 1/2" heavy barrel with a bright excellent bore. This pistol is masterfully engraved in full coverage tight relief scroll with finely stippled shaded background. The pistol shows finely executed gold inlay work including scroll on either side of muzzle along with "bookend" borders on barrel markings along with gold line border work and other small tasteful accents. The work is of exceptional quality and is reminiscent of, and could very well be the work of, renowned engraver John Warren. The pistol shipped from the factory on January 16, 1958 to Shapleigh Hardware in St. Louis. The 5 1/2" heavy barrel was not introduced until 1963 so this pistol was composed at some point after 1963. The owner clearly was endeared to this pistol based upon the extensive and very fine custom work he commissioned for it. The pistol is fitted with its original adjustable sights and factory thumbrest checkered Goncalo Alves grips. The pistol is in excellent condition retaining 99% fine quality blue finish overall. The pistol comes in a custom faux alligator skin covered case with hand painted S&W monogram on lid along with "Model 41". A very finely executed custom Smith 41. (18414-5) {C&R} [Roy G. Jinks Collection] (3000/5000) SOLD FOR $3,162.50
