serial #3027, 10 ga. (2 5/8"), 30" damascus barrels choked a light full and a tight full with bright about excellent bores which show some very sparsely scattered remnants of perhaps some very light pinprick pitting or built-up wad residue. This is a stunning Lindner-made Daly. The barrels themselves show a lovely contrasting damascus pattern their full length with some very light wear to pewter at the muzzle's, a couple spots of very light oxidation and a few very light dings on the rib near the breeches. There are nice geometric engraved bands at the breeches and the dolls head extension has lovely scroll. The frame shows some fading trace case colors, the balance primarily a very pleasing smooth pewter gray patina with the triggerguard retaining nearly all its original blue. Top of frame, the top lever, frame flats and belly show exquisite flowing tight scroll with background punch-dot shading and banknote filigree borders. "Charles Daly" is in riband on each frame flat and there is a lovely gun dog on the bow of the guard, a chamois on the belly of the frame and small gamebirds at the very front of the frame's belly; the quality of the engraving is stunning. The checkered round knob English walnut buttstock rates very good plus to near excellent with nearly all of its original varnish and some lovely grain figure, showing only the light dings and handling marks one would expect from a hunted arm. The grip features nice checkered panels as do the stock cheeks and the length of pull to the original checkered bone buttplate is 14 1/4" with drops of 1 3/8" and 2 1/2". The splinter forend is near fully checkered and rates very good as well, showing perhaps a bit more wear, with a nice bone forend tip, the iron and lever release showing the same exquisite engraving as the balance of the metal. The arm features double triggers, extractors, automatic safety and cocking indicators and locks up solidly with the top lever at dead center. Included with the arm is a leather luggage style case with green baize interior and ammunition carrier insert. The exterior rates about very good showing some old water staining, light flaking and small abrasions but with the stitching near fully intact. A brass monogram plate on the lid reads "L. Nichols Junior/Nahant". The interior of the lid features a William Read and Sons retailer label which may be a later replacement. The ammunition carrier holds 60 rounds of 10 ga. 2 7/8" #5 shot. Overall an absolutely lovely Prussian Daly, that likely still could be taken afield with its complement of #5s, perfect turkey medicine, a really stunning big bore Prussian boxlock double.
