serial #123127, 22 LR, 6 1/2" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces on this very nice Target Model retain 98-99% original blue, the loss due to some extremely light sharp edge wear and perhaps a very sparse handling mark here or there which must really be searched for. The checkered walnut grips rate excellent with only a couple very minor compressions of a point here or there. Factory equipped with target sights, the arm includes a single two-tone magazine marked "Colt Woodsman/Cal. 22 LR" on its floorplate. This lovely gun comes in an original Colt box. The two-tone hinge-top box has been renumbered to the gun on the box bottom but is correct for the period. It features a "Target Partridge Sight" surcharge end label and the box itself rates very good with some minor fraying or corner separations. Included is the test target numbered to the gun, "Shooting Suggestions" pamphlet, "This Colt Woodsman" green hangtag (the very bottom has been trimmed off slightly), steel sight adjustment screwdriver still in its manila packet, boar bristle brush in its manila sleeve and a receipt from Von Lengerke & Antoine in Chicago, dated May 1938, for $27.19. Included with the arm is a letter from Bob Rayburn extolling the virtues of the pistol and remarking it is all 100% correct and mentioning the very very wonderful condition of the gun. Overall a very lovely Colt Woodsman Target Model, likely in its original box which was merely renumbered at some time in the last 80 years, as factory penciled numbers are usually very very light to begin with. (former Bob Rayburn collection) (38449-20) {C&R} (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,300.00
