serial #5498675, 30 Carbine, 18" 9-44 dated Inland barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain 80% arsenal parkerized finish with some parkerized over pinprick pits on the cheekpiece, some oxidation stain specks on wire stock and scattered fading. The 1944 style M1A1 stock rates very good plus with a couple dings and some handling marks. The only visible marking on the stock is an "RI" on the underside of the pistolgrip, the buttplate has the correct "B257614" drawing number, the leather cheekpiece appears original but the rivets may be later replacements. The trigger housing, rotating safety and hammer are all of Inland manufacture but the remaining parts appear to of mixed USGI manufacture. The carbine is equipped with an original M84 scope mounted on an M3 mount. The scope tube retains 97% original blue with some light fading. The scope has a post reticle and the optics are bit tinted but remain clear. There is no rear sight present but a single 30 round Seymour products magazine is included. An interesting M1A1 carbine overall. (208569-51) {C&R} [Calhoun L.H. Howard Collection] (2000/3000) SOLD FOR $2,760.00
