serial #160796, 45 LC, 4 3/4" barrel with a good plus bore which shows some patches of light pitting but with rifling visible its entire length. This is a very handsome engraved Colt. The gun features factory scroll engraving in near full coverage with sunburst accents, punchdot shaded backgrounds and geometric borders along top of frame and rear periphery of cylinder. All of the work appears to be of the Helfricht shop and it remains clean and crisp. The metal surfaces of the revolver show about 90% of a very old, re-nickel finish which was clearly done during the period of use. The finish shows lots of age with some dulling and showing wear from use after the finish was applied. All markings remain clear and legible and areas of loss show a rich gray patina. The revolver wears a pair of mother-of-pearl grips which show nice age but are likely very old replacements. The grips remain in excellent condition and show nice iridescence. The revolver comes with a factory letter listing the revolver as 45 Colt, 4 3/4", Nickel finish, Pearl grips, factory engraved and shipped in a single gun shipment on October 3, 1895 to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis. An extremely handsome and honest factory engraved antique Colt Single Action Army revolver. (18592-1) {ANTIQUE} (10000/15000) SOLD FOR $16,100.00
