serial #535967, 375 H&H Magnum, 25" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces retain about 98% plus factory blue with the bolt body remaining bright. The bolt knob shows some light toning to gray and there is some very light operational wear on the bolt body, it is appropriately DC pencil-numbered to the gun on its underside. The checkered walnut Monte Carlo stock rates excellent with the expected very minor handling ding here or there, showing a bit of worn finish on some of the high edges, but it is overall very nice and has its original Winchester solid rubber recoil pad in place. The original front sight is in place, its hood is no longer present, the rear sight has been removed and a Lyman 48 WJ receiver sight has been installed in place in the factory holes, the stock is unaltered. The bottom metal retains its original polish in every respect while the barreled action was very neatly factory refinished at a later date and has the factory custom shop five-digit work order number stamped on its underside beneath the chamber. Oddly, the escutcheon for the forend/barrel screw has gone missing from the stock, but should be a very easy item to replace. Overall a very lovely Alaskan manufactured in 1961, the second year of the "Alaskan" moniker. (38585-78) {C&R} (3000/4000) SOLD FOR $2,587.50
