serial #56703, 30-06, 24" barrel with a bright very good plus bore showing some light frosting and a few spots of minor oxidation. The metal surfaces of this rifle retain about 60-65% original blue mixing with a pleasing gray patina on the barrel along with some pinprick pitting at the muzzle, scattered freckling, small scratches and light oxidation staining. The matte-finished receiver has mostly toned to gray with some light freckling. The checkered pistolgrip stock remains in very good condition showing some light staining on the butt, areas of worn finish, two small professionally repaired chips behind the bolt handle some minor dings and handling marks. The pistolgrip is capped with an excellent condition hard rubber cap and the rifle wears a vintage White Line ventilated recoil pad that has hardened significantly over the years and shows cracking throughout, it provides a 14 1/4" length of pull. The stock is equipped with sling swivels and the rifle is sighted with a Marble's semi-buckhorn sporting rear leaf sight and a ramped silver bead front. The rifle also features a Griffin & Howe quick detach side mount with 7/8" rings. The scope mount is in very good plus condition showing some high edge wear and a few small dings. Overall a very good 1946-made Model 70 that could use a new buttplate and would probably make for a fine shooting rifle once equipped with your choice of optics.
