145. Fine Whitney Kennedy Small Caliber Lever Action Rifle

serial #H8, 38-40, 24" round barrel with full magazine and a very good plus to near excellent bore. This 1883 production rifle shows later features and markings including the full loop lever and two-line Whitney Kennedy address and is in a scarce chambering. This is one of the first rifles made in this caliber and also one of the first rifles to have the two-line Whitney Kennedy marking. The condition of the rifle is wonderful with the barrel and magazine retaining about 50% evenly thinning original blue finish blending with a smooth gray patina. The action shows 80% original blue with loss on belly, high edges and due to some light thinning. The plain walnut stocks rate very good plus with over 90% original finish remaining. The rifle is sighted with a German silver blade Rocky Mountain front and standard sporting rear. This is a nice clean Whitney Kennedy rifle in a scarce chambering.
