serial #241085, 30-40 Krag, 24 1/2" barrel with an about very good bore showing some frosting, light oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this rifle retain about 95% older reapplied blue with some scattered light oxidation staining and freckling throughout, old patches of pinprick pitting underneath the finish and light high edge wear. The bolt shows some light freckling and toning to gray throughout. The rifle is stocked classic style with a very nice left-side shadow line cheekpiece, pronounced fluted point of comb, widow's peak steel buttplate, checkered pistolgrip with steel cap, checkered forearm and an ebony tip. The walnut stock shows some small chips around the edge of the cheekpiece, some light smoothing and a few chipped points, a tiny hairline crack at upper tang, a few small chips at the toe and heel, some minor dings and handling marks. There are four holes in the stock for sling swivels and the rifle is sighted with a receiver-mounted aperture sight and custom thin ramped sporting front sight. There are a total of eleven holes (six on the barrel and five on the receiver) for additional sights. The trigger has no doubt also had some work done with very little take-up and a light, crisp release. This rifle is a superbly done sporter, unfortunately unmarked but will probably still be a good shooter. (138620-60) {MODERN} (500/700) SOLD FOR $862.50
